#HeritageCow makes her way to Stoke Park for Charity event.
Strata Tiles has joined forces with International design practice Scott Brownrigg and local artist Anna Whittle to sponsor, Heritage Cow, a cartographic illustration of landmarks, memories and architecture that form Surrey. “She’s an interactive expression of our culture and history,” explains Fiona Grieve, Architectural Assistant at Scott Brownrigg. CowParade is the world’s largest public art event which will see lots of brightly decorated fibreglass cows placed in popular landmarks across the county during the Summer.
The idea is that each cow is ‘Sponsored’ by a businesses, school or charity and decorated by a local artist. The cows will be put out to graze and dotted around Surrey from June until the end of August for all to see. After months of hard work, numerous tubs of paint and half a dozen coats of a varnish our conceptual design came to life! Making her début at The Surrey County Show on Monday 30th May, Heritage Cow now resides in the picturesque Rose Garden at Stoke Park, Guildford before moving to Millmead Island and Guildford Castle later on in the Summer. An app has been specially designed by digital design agency Akiko Design for the event, allowing users to follow Heritage Cow’s journey over the summer and locate her in Heritage Cow in her various homes over the summer.
In addition, you can ‘check in’ once Heritage Cow is found; those who find the most cows will be entered into a prize draw to win a luxury Kuoni holiday for two to Mauritius! The autumn will see the cows auctioned off for charity. Each cow sponsor gets to choose a charity of their own to benefit from half of the auction proceeds, with the other 50 per cent going to the Surrey Hills Trust Fund established in partnership with the Community Foundation for Surrey to conserve and protect the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Strata Tiles and Scott Brownrigg have chosen their half of net proceedings from the auction of Heritage Cow to be donated to local charity Shooting Star Chase Hospice at Loseley Park, a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. Jonathan Wiles, Strata Tiles Director comments; “CowParade coming to Surrey is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to get involved with something out of the norm and raise money for a good cause. It’s our hope that Heritage Cow, designed in conjunction with architects Scott Brownrigg and artist Anna Whittle, will gain public support and raise awareness of our chosen charity, Shooting Star Chase.”
