Whistles makes its way to America
Fashion trader Whistles has arrived in the US. The London-based retailer, founded in 1978, opened their first US concession on the second floor of Bloomingdales flagship store in New York’s 59th Street last week after signing a partnership with the department store. “We really felt that Bloomingdale’s would give us a really good exposure to the biggest number of customers in Manhattan. There are other department stores in Manhattan, but none of them really achieve the footfall that Bloomingdale’s do,” commented Jane Shepherdson, CEO of Whistles. The concession within Bloomingdales has been designed to project the atmosphere in Whistles flagship outlet in Dover Street, London. Strata Tiles worked with APA to create an environment for the fashion retailers first US store, that not only reflected their London heritage but created space throughout the concession. The tile used to create this effect was Purbeck, a minimalist refined collection of full body porcelain. “The space is inspired by our Mayfair London store, we incorporated marble with steel wooden detailing to create a sleek modern yet soft interior,” explains Shepherdson. “I think London and NY have a pretty similar energy, and I hope that Whistles becomes as popular here as it has become in London. I can’t wait to see NY girls wearing Whistles in their own way,” Whistles’ CEO concluded.
